Lets hear it for KRIESLER!

As the room full of listeners enters a round of applause whilst slightly shaking their head in amazement.

On this rainy afternoon I find myself perched on a vintage handmade Danish listening chair in the warm wholesome hands of the Kriesler 11-77.

Well, that is quite the exact ritual that I endure when writing each of my long thought out descriptions for my Radiograms.

Staying true to content I like to give a spill about myself before we get into the exciting stuff. I go by the alias Retraphonics, a three piece team of dedicated Radiogram surgeons. We live and breathe Aussie Radiograms and I myself have been head hunting the finest models that this lovely country has ever produced. My private collection has seen virtually every model made down under and some extremely rare one off pieces too.

Ive caught you at just the right time, did you know 2025 is the year of the Radiogram…

Why though?

Because I have made the executive decision to unveil some of my prized Radiograms, restore them and offer them to the kind people of Australia to own.

These relics just aren’t around anymore and the ones that are still obtainable have lived a hard life. Thankfully for me, a decade long journey of networking and sourcing these lil darlin’s has resulted in a collection of a lifetime.

We present to you the Kriesler 11-77 3 in one Stereophonic.

Australia’s first Stereophonic Radiogram, an absolute historical Aussie icon which will forever hold a strong position in the history books of Australian Manufacturing.

A favourite among Radiogram collectors for its astonishing looks and ridiculously ‘ahead of its time’ stereophonic sound. I am pleased to announce that this is my all time number 1 Radiogram that Australia ever made. Take a moment for the 1950’s car like front panel. Large magic eye

Born in 1959 this beauty is a whopping 66 years old, hard to actually wrap my head around how long this unit has been with us. What an honour, truly, to have the chance to restore it (the right way) was a gift.

Forgive me for my technical description of the workings of this unit as it may sound a little like gibberish for the everyday folk but I will attempt to simplify it.

We @retraphonics restore all of our radiograms in our warehouse on the Gold Coast and we take pride in restoring every model back to its original condition including every single part. No manipulation, no replacement turntables or speakers. Everything is the original kit and completely rebuilt. Painful, time-consuming but very rewarding and there is no other way to do it.

Kriesler really nailed the amplifier on this one, very much so they designed multiple Radiograms off the same design. This model has the valve layout as follows 12AX7 - 6AN7 - 6N8 / - 6V4 - 6M5 - 6M5. A perfect combination, they continued production of this layout through until the 1970’s in many different models.

We have restored the entire amplifier ensuring the best possible sound reproduction can be maintained and the life expectancy of this unit will now be into the forevers :) All coupling capacitors have been replaced and upgraded to high quality modern day versions. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced. Each valve is removed tested and a sonic cleaning treatment is given to each valve pin and corresponding socket. All switches and potentiometers also undergo Ditto treatment. Rounding it off with a brand new complete power cable.

I must highlight that there is an unwritten law for this particular model that must be acknowledged to achieve original sound quality. The secret to why this model sounds so good is the 7000k 2ohm speaker transformers and speakers. Ensuring the restoration follows these strict guidelines is extremely important and is a difficult task to complete as these parts are super hard to get a hold of. Lucky for me I have genuine Kriesler spare parts. Yay.

Featuring 2 Rola Australian made full range speakers in Kriesler’s respected 2ohm. Model 8MX. 8” speaker system they are bulletproof and sound AMAZING.

Also onboard is a Garrard 100% automatic stacking turntable, with abilities to stack up to 10 records at one time and play them one after the other with no human assistance needed. The big heavy model RC121 MKii is built for war and a very sophisticated machine indeed. At 66 years young it was time for a complete rebuild from the ground up, as I pull each part off and clean as I go I cannot believe the build quality of these. It is made from the real stuff, yep, all metal construction made to last a lifetime. All parts are cleaned re lubricated and re aligned. Motor cleaned and oiled, and polished original paintwork. The task of sourcing the original Garrard razor edge rubber mat for this unit was difficult but I ended up finding one. How gorgeous. A replacement idler wheel was sourced and I have reconditioned it too. Now all functions work flawlessly. Ive also installed a modern day equivalent high compliance ceramic cartridge and needle resulting in fantastic sound.

If you know this model you’ll know that the original speaker fabric is VERY unique and always damaged, replacing it is gut wrenching because nothing comes close to the original fabric. This is original 1959 fabric grills!

Lastly ill touch base on a promise I made to the original owner regarding the aesthetic appearance of the cabinetry. When the owner honoured the unit to me it was a great day, however he insisted that I left the cabinet in its original finish as he had loved this Radiogram for his whole life and took such great care of it. So there we have it, all original nitro finish on Australia maple veneer ply. A light recondition treatment was applied to the wood to ensure longevity.

Oh and it has a lovely AM Radio stage too.

Additional iPhone adapter cable is on offer for an extra cost, this one sounds super nice with iPhone playlists I was pleasantly surprised with how good it responded to modern day music if I’m honest.

Our Radiograms are priced accordingly and are fixed, for an interested local buyer an appointment can be made to view and hear on the Gold Coast in our showroom. Interstate buyers are welcome and we can organise all shipping ventures.
