Kriesler Mahogany Multisonic 11-97
Look what’s just dropped in straight from Mars!
First spotted by telescope in 1966 in the Milky Way, then teleported to Planet Earth Via UFO.
Now we can happily present to the good people of Australia the Kriesler Multisonic Radiogram Model 11-97
Restored by Retraphonics on the Gold Coast, check out the museum of Radiograms that I have had my hands on at Retraphonics.com
I have been collecting Vintage Australian made Radiograms for too long now, my collection has included some of the rarest and most sought after gems ever offered in this fine country. When people ask me which is the best sounding Radiogram you’ve ever heard I easily answer with the Kriesler 11-97.
This model is an Audio engineering masterpiece, the absolute height of valve amplifier production in Australia was at this very point. This is in my opinion and also widely considered to be the best model of radiogram to ever be produced in this country.
At 60 years old these monsters require a huge amount of restoration work to get back to the condition it is now. A long rewarding journey was had, so now confidently I can say its back to its perfect working glory.
So… why is this one THE BEST?
Well, I can remember back in the mid 60’s when these were getting rolled out at department stores across the state. People were left in a state of shock at the sound and build of this fine instrument.
Kriesler were the leading manufacturers of Radiograms in Australia at the time, so they took it upon themselves to blow the roof off and design and engineer a ’Top Of The Line’ series of Radiograms better known as the Master Multi-Sonic line up.
This lineup featured a very safisticated amplifier design that no other brand has come close to, including push pull circuitry and electrostatic tweeters. Not to mention dual valve power amplifiers for each channel. The mighty 6GW8 valve is a quadruplet in this model which is absolutely mind blowing at the amount of power that it produces. Accompanied by 6 full range loudspeakers including 2 whopping 12” speakers.
To put it in more simpler words, you couldn’t buy the sound this unit makes in modern day technology for the price. The precision circuitry and quality of components used in this model to get any where close to this in modern day equipment you would be spending tens of thousands and you still wouldn’t be there yet.
We have restored all of the amplifier including all electrolytic and coupling paper capacitors with high quality equivilents. All switches and potentiometers have been sonic cleaned with quality solvents, and all valves have been tested and cleaned along with the valve sockets too. Valves and speakers transformers that were out of spec have been replaced with exact Kriesler parts. We also gave the amplifier a fresh coat of paint with the Genuine Kriesler Grey colour way.
To shine a light on a virtually obsolete platform, AM Radio. These babies were constructed purely for Radio playback; it features an uber cool magic eye valve which lights up green when you hit the perfect spot on the radio station. Amazing! It receives crystal clear AM Radios stations effortlessly.
So what’s with the record player?
Its the original unit that we have completely restored!
This is one of the only radiograms to feature the Fierce Garrard AT6 Mark iiA turntable. A stacking turntable of super high quality hand crafted in England and imported to our shores in the mid 60’s they’re a force to be reckoned with and it’ll have you gobsmacked at what it can do.
I can write a book on Garrard turntables, but keeping it in short;
It can stack your records one by one AUTOMATICALLY, load them all up and press the start button and away it goes, featuring precision anti skating and stylus pressure comments this turntable is begging to play your vinyl.
We completely disassemble the entire turntable piece by piece, clean it all and reassemble using the finest quality lubricant and grease. With the addition of its detachable head shell its a very practical unit indeed. We have installed a high compliance ceramic cartridge and needle which will impress even the most critical listeners.
Lets talk on the cabinet?!
Constructed from plywood (thank god) these were built to last a lifetime. No flaky chipboard here. Covered in a gorgeous real wood cherry mahogany veneer. The colour is dreamy and the finish on the wood is mirror like. Whilst the original speaker fabric was in good condition I am a perfectionist and I must have them looking their absolute best so I replaced the speaker fabric with brand new colour matched acoustic approved speaker fabric. Yippeee
iPhone or Samsung compatible, that’s right you can play your favourite playlist through your phone too. Additional costs apply for our customer adapters.
If you would like to see some videos of this exotic animal in its natural habitat (my studio) then pop on over to my instagram @retraphonics to witness a true stallion in its prance.
We offer interstate shipping so please reach out for an accurate immediate quote on so.
