Philips Philharmonic Radiogram

A$2,900.00

Another goodie to drop on you,

We are consistently blessed with the best.

Welcome to the Retraphonics archive, we are avid Radiogram collectors and restorers, hand picking the finest radiograms ever constructed. We have been collecting for over a decade and we are now restoring some of our prized units and they are now available for you to own.

This one is a very special little Darlin’

We introduce to you the Phillips Philharmonic Radiogram from 1968!

Handmade in South Australia, of all the units we have had our hands on this is deemed a very rare gem. This model, the RF582 was only produced for a short period of time in early 1968 before quickly being discontinued for unknown reasons.

The main standout for this rare model is the addition of the Garrard 1025 fully automatic turntable, almost all other Phillips radiograms feature a BSR turntable. Certainly a quirky switch up and we are very impressed indeed. Being almost 60 years old the Garrard has received the standard treatment here including the complete disassemble and reassemble of the entire record player, every nut bolt and clip has been removed cleaned and re lubricated. Now working perfectly and as new. Equipped with a high quality modern day upgraded ceramic cartridge and stylus, with the ability to stack up to 10 records at once and play them one after the other. So cool!

The in-cabin electronics feature and all inclusive early transistor Amplifer, made to last, these put out a beautiful tone. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with appropriate values and quality branded units. All potentiometers sonic cleaned and lubricated and to top things off we even replaced the light bulb with a new one.

Despite it being a radiogram we have switched the radio function for an iPhone playback option, for an additional fee we can supply a custom cable to play your smartphone through the radiogram. What a vibe.

I am left speechless for how loud this unit plays. It’s an honour to be in its presence, a true work horse. One of the loudest best sounding radiograms I’ve had the pleasure of restoring and its only got two speakers?! Go figure. It’ll impressive even the most critical of listeners. You can feel the music so deep in your bones.

Real-wood HMR veneer cabinetry in a rather charming Danish Teak with the use of aluminium strips and glitter speaker cloth its a mid-century dream boat.

This one is worth the trip to our instagram to see and hear the Philharmonic in action. We have some videos of it playings some rather funky tunes. @retraphonics

Appointments on the Gold Coast in our showroom, message to secure a viewing time. Interstate shipping can be organised by us.
