Retraphonics restores and sells vintage audio equipment, including radiograms and components that may be 50 years old or more. Our 3-month restoration warranty applies specifically to eligible faults relating to restoration work carried out by Retraphonics and should be read in consideration of the age and nature of vintage equipment.
Warranty Coverage
3-Month Restoration Warranty
Retraphonics provides a 3-month warranty on restoration work carried out by Retraphonics, commencing from the date the restored equipment is returned to or received by the customer.
The warranty applies to faults that are directly attributable to restoration work performed by Retraphonics.
Age of Equipment
Vintage Equipment
Customers acknowledge that vintage audio equipment may contain original components, mechanisms, wiring, speakers, controls and other parts that are many decades old.
Retraphonics restores and retains original equipment wherever practical. While restored pieces are tested following restoration, the age of vintage equipment means that an original component unrelated to the restoration work may fail in the future.
The Retraphonics 3-month restoration warranty does not constitute a guarantee that every original component in a vintage piece will remain fault-free for the warranty period or beyond.
What Is Not Covered
Customer Misuse and Exclusions
The Retraphonics warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by:
- customer misuse or incorrect operation
- accidental or physical damage
- dropping, moving or mishandling the equipment
- liquid, moisture or pest damage
- electrical surges or unsuitable power supply
- damage occurring during transport arranged independently by the customer
- unauthorised modifications or alterations
- repairs, servicing or interference by another person or repairer after the equipment has left Retraphonics
- faults involving components or areas of the piece unrelated to the restoration work originally performed by Retraphonics
- normal deterioration associated with the age and ongoing use of vintage equipment
Damage or faults caused by customer misuse or incorrect operation are not covered by the Retraphonics voluntary 3-month restoration warranty, subject always to the customer's rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Making a Warranty Claim
If a Problem Occurs
If a customer experiences a problem during the warranty period, they must contact Retraphonics first and provide information about the issue.
Warranty coverage can only be determined after Retraphonics has been given a reasonable opportunity to assess the equipment and determine the cause of the fault.
Customers should not arrange for another person or repairer to open, modify, service or repair the equipment before Retraphonics has been given a reasonable opportunity to assess the issue. Damage or additional faults caused by unauthorised third-party work are not covered by the Retraphonics voluntary warranty.
Retraphonics may need to inspect and diagnose the equipment before determining whether the fault relates to restoration work covered by the warranty.
Freight to Retraphonics
Return Freight and Transport
If equipment needs to be returned to the Retraphonics Gold Coast workshop for assessment, diagnosis or warranty work, it is the CUSTOMER'S responsibility to arrange and pay for transport/freight from their location to Retraphonics.
Retraphonics' voluntary 3-month warranty does not include customer-to-Retraphonics freight or transport costs.
This freight policy applies subject to any rights and remedies the customer may have under Australian Consumer Law.
Ongoing Care
Care of Vintage Equipment
Customers should switch vintage equipment off at the wall when it is not being used.
Retraphonics recommends periodic servicing of vintage equipment to help maintain its operation.
Your Rights
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in the Retraphonics warranty policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
