This radiogram is currently available to secure prior to restoration. It will undergo a complete Retraphonics restoration in-house at our Gold Coast workshop, including restoration and servicing of the original amplifier and turntable, with the cabinetry attended to as required.
Pre-order restorations are generally completed within approximately 30–90 days from order. Once your pre-order is placed, we'll confirm the expected completion timeframe for your individual radiogram.
Secure one of Australia's most iconic radiograms before it comes through our workshop. Manufactured in Sydney by Kriesler, the Stereo 6 was produced for around a decade, with refinements made along the way as the design was perfected. Each example offered here dates from approximately 1965 to 1975, with the exact year and specification varying from unit to unit.
This Stereo 6 features the highly sought-after timber slat grille, a detail that is becoming increasingly difficult to find with every slat still intact. The front panel showcases beautiful real timber veneer, and up close the natural variation in the woodgrain is a lovely reminder that these radiograms were built from genuine materials, crafted from real timber rather than imitation finishes.
Kriesler radiograms are renowned for being built like a tank. Quality materials were used throughout, and their construction reflects the fine manufacturing Australia was once known for. Once properly restored, their reliability is second to none.
Each unit is fitted with an original Garrard automatic stacking turntable, with the exact model varying by year of production. These clever changers can hold a stack of LPs and play them one after another at the push of a single button, offering hours of uninterrupted listening. It is remarkable to think this level of convenience became obsolete by the late 1970s.
As part of its restoration, the turntable will be fully serviced to operate smoothly and reliably, and fitted with a new high-quality cartridge and diamond-tipped stylus, capable of playing your records cleanly without skipping or tracking issues.
The original amplifier will be carefully restored, with capacitors replaced using quality polyester and electrolytic components chosen for longevity, power supply resistors renewed, and all controls, potentiometers and switches deep cleaned and lubricated. The AM radio will be restored to full working order.
Every restoration retains the radiogram's original internals and character. We do not fit modern replacement turntables or electronics, so you receive a genuine, authentic Kriesler, restored the right way.
For those wanting modern convenience, our optional Phone Adaptor Kit allows you to play Spotify and other audio from your iPhone or Samsung straight through the radiogram's original amplifier and speakers.
Listening to records through a restored Stereo 6 is a genuine pleasure. The sound is warm, rich and full, and there is a reason people say vintage radiograms simply sound better.
Restoration is generally completed within approximately 30–90 days. Once your pre-order is placed, we'll confirm the expected completion timeframe for your Stereo 6 and keep you in the loop with updates as it comes through the workshop.
Approximate dimensions: 1070mm W x 700mm H x 410mm D.
